Domain Name:
To make your website something out of the box you need to understand the basics of a website such as domain name. A domain name is an IP address which we type in the URL box in browser.
For e.g an IP address 208.65. 153.251 there is a domain name Youtube.com so that we don't need to remember the difficult numbers. In short, domain names were created to solve this issue and make networking a breeze.
Hosting: For website, a host is a web server that stores and transmits the data for one or more websites. Host can also refer to the service provider that leases this infrastructure, which is known as hosting.
IP address: IP address stands for internet protocol address; it is an identifying number that is associated with a specific computer or computer network.
When connected to the internet, the IP address allows the computers to send and receive information.
URL: URL in full Uniform Resource Locator, address of a resource on the Internet, or of a file stored locally.
The resource can be any type of file stored on a server, such as a Web page, a text file, a graphics file, or an application program.
The address contains three elements: the type of protocol used to access the file (e.g., HTTP for a Web page, ftp for an FTP site); the domain name or IP address of the server where the file resides; and, optionally, the pathname to the file (i.e., description of the file’s location).
For example, the URL http://www.youtube.com/sports instructs the browser to use the HTTP protocol, go to the www.youtube.com Web server, and access the file named Sports.
SEO: SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which is the practice of increasing the quantity and quality of traffic to your website through organic search engine results.
DNS: Domain Name System or DNS is a directory of names that match with numbers.
The numbers, in this case are IP addresses, which computers use to communicate with each other.

Having Problems with Domain Setup?
We all want the perfect website to boost our business and attract an audience that will enjoy our products and services. From setting up to the finished website, we follow procedures to get to the result. Usually, things do not always go the way we want, and we face some difficulties in setting our website.
Some of the issues you can face during domain setup are covered in this article to help you get through the points even if you are a beginner. First, you have to have the patience and the time to do it properly and avoid having troubles later in the process.
What is a Domain Name?
To understand some of the issues involving domain we have to know what a domain name is, how to set it up and where it points. The most asked question is, “why is my domain not working?”
Even when you follow the instructions carefully, changed the records at the domain registrar to use the right domain servers, some issues may occur.
How DNS Works?
The Domain Name System (DNS) converts the readable human addresses into numbers called IP address that consists of numbers separated with dots- 235.235.235.235 or combination of letters and numbers.
When you enter the web address into the address bar, the transformation happens almost instantly.
To explain the DNS, we have to know a few things:
The cache is the simple storage of information. This is a date that is already fetched from the server and it is a quick process instead of fetching it every time.
The browser of the computer has a DNS cache and the operating system too. When you enter the web address, the browser checks if the address existed previously and if it doesn’t, then sends the information to the operating system; suppose there is no information in the previous.
In that case, the request is forwarded to the Internet provider servers being used to link the browser to the provider if that server has no information, than it is forwarded to other servers in a specific order.
Because of the caches, your new domain name might not be working.
Every domain name has an associated Time To Live (TTL) record, which is often 4 hours. This is the time for DNS servers to hold the information relating to the domain in their cache. After this time, the server will forget the relevant information about the URL or IP.
If you changed the domain points in the meantime, it would be sent to the wrong place.
Although 4 hours is not a long period, it occasionally happens that the people who work with busy DNS servers ignore a TTL that is less than 24 hours and even 48 hours.
So, be patient, and if it doesn’t work in 48 hours, then the issues should be located at the configuration of the domain register.
Verification of Domain-Possible Issues
After setting up the domain name and adding all the necessary information, if there is a problem again, you should check the following:
DNS Provider- The Domain Name is registered with one provider but the Nameservers to another provider. The CNAME/ TXT/ MX/ SPF records added in your Domain Registrar is not considered valid.
The CNAME/TXT records which are added in the provider where the Nameservers are pointed will be valid. You should also check with your Domain Registrar for your domain where the name servers are pointed.
Longer TTL- if you have specified a longer time in your DNS for each change, it will also take a longer time to become effective.
Putting a 24 hour or 48 hours TTL, then the CNAME/ TXT/ MX Records might not be provided during the verification process. It will take from 12-24 hours to be verified, based on the TTL set, so you will have to check it
Incorrect Values- The way the CNAME/ MX needs to be added often varies with different DNS Providers.
Some DNS Providers expect the domain name to be added in the hostname, whereas some domain providers ask you to fill in just the hostname part and append the hostname from their end.
Hence, it is recommended to check the help pages or instruction manuals or reach out to your DNS provider's support team to add the respective CNAME/ MX records.
Typos or Spelling Mistakes- We usually do not take enough time to check the typing or the spelling mistakes while doing some job.
Check if you added the correct domain name. If you deleted the domain name and added it again, a new zbcode will be generated for the domain. The old zbcode will be invalid and your domain will not be verified. You will need to add a new CNAME with zbcode for verification.
Check not to add a dot or space at the end of the value. This mistake will affect the values of getting appropriately propagated.
Some of these problems are common and happens all the time. After checking all the things mentioned above, you should wait at least 48 hours for your domain to get effective and start working.
However, if there is another problem, you should contact the support center of your provider.
If you have a problem with all the services at your domain, then some common issues have to be checked:
The domain expired- Domains that have not been renewed will be deleted from the registry. You should be able to do late renewal and to check the expiry date.
Hosting service expired- The domain name and hosting are separate services and have to be renewed separately.
These are the most common issues that you have to take into consideration while doing the domain setup. Hopefully, this article was helpful.
